Inaugural National Institute on Computing and the Law: From Steps to Strides into the New Age
 
June 25 - 26, 2007
This two-day National Institute will explore ongoing developments involving computing technology and its effects on intellectual property, criminal justice and business law. It will provide you with expert perspectives on these and related topics. Panelists are nationally known professionals including litigators, judges, academics, and scientists. The following will be those topics covered at the program:
  • Ongoing controversies over the protection of personal data and privacy
  • Government surveillance of citizens and the impact on civil liberties
  • Prosecution and sentencing issues concerning computer and Internet crime
  • Digital rights management, copyright and new laws addressing both
  • Legal protections afforded confidential business information and trade secrets
  • Computer forensics, security, and auditing
  • Ethical issues in the monitoring and supervision of employee communications and
  • data files in the workplace
  • Techniques to use when litigating the high-tech case.
The program faculty includes Mark Rasch, Managing Director of FTI Consulting. He will be moderating on Day two at 9:00 am on Ethics in Corporate Security & Surveillance
